Exploring The World
Travelling, moving, adapting, connecting… it started from a young age…
Jorien started her international life being born in Dublin to Dutch parents and moved to Indonesia when she was nine months old. Bahasa Indonesia was her first language which she promptly forgot when she moved to Washington D.C. at four years old… Subsequent moves were to Dakar, Senegal, where she started French (and a bit of Wolof), then off to Rome, where she started Italian, and went to secondary school in Brussels at the European School where she could use all her languages… After her Baccalaureate she decided to join her family when they moved to Japan where she lived, worked and studied Japanese, in Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.
Her first degree in Hospitality Management at Hotelschool The Hague was obtained after she first came to live in her “home country”, The Netherlands, at 21 years of age. After graduating she moved again, this time to New York City where she worked in a luxury hotel with their VIP clientele and obtained her second degree in fine arts at Sarah Lawrence College.
After several years in NYC, she moved back to the Netherlands, first to The Hague, where she worked in Protocol and Events at the ICC, and now has her home and art studio in Haarlem.
